Motive

Motive Software was founded by Scott Harmon, Mike Maples and a stellar team from IBM / Tivoli to automate the world of enterprise support. Around the same time, Broadjump Software was formed by Kip McClanahan and Kenny Van Zant to automate service management for broadband service providers. Both companies separately grew to significant scale and market leadership, and joined forces in 2002. The combined entity went public in 2004 and was subsequently acquired by Alcatel.
